Evidence Vs Entertainment
I've been reading many of the posts on here regarding that MH is primarily an entertainment programme as opposed to that of a serious paranormal research programme. To that point i agree! However that taints any evidence that they may pick up as staged or faked for entertainment value. Some people have claimed various occurances have been paranormal from chairs moving, stones thrown, lights turning themselves on, not to mention the taps and bangs.........now if this was a serious investigation they would have looked into these far more than they did. looked for alternate explanations and spent time reviewing the available footage. So please if you wish to refer to MH in terms of entertainment don't use the word evidence. The word evidence implies that it is clear proof of something. Nothing i have seen in the last years of MH can be called evidence, it raises questions, but never can it be called evidence!

RE: Evidence Vs Entertainment
Gav, in the past Yvette has stated this is a real paranormal investigation show and that their aims were to catch a Ghost on camera.
This is the point many of us have those such a Keithmhfan now say it is only entertainment this being the case when will Yvette come clean and admit this. Or is it as I suspect that GH fans are blinkered and do not like the fact we challange what goes on on MH to the degree of telling us not to watch MH.

I can find nothing on line where Yvette or any of the MH team have stated MH is only an entertainment show.

RE: Evidence Vs Entertainment
Pagan Man this is kind of the duality i'm getting at. IF as Yvette claims this is a serious paranormal investigation whose intention is to obtain evidence of the paranormal - then they are going about it in such a way that any evidence is suspiscious. However, IF as some people state it is an Entertainment show, then they shouldn't use the word evidence when going on about what the team have caught on camera.
I completely agree with you that she and the team have never publically as far as i can find stated that this is an entertainment show, they always use the line Paranormal investigation It is up to people the mindset they have when watching it, and i personally watch it as entertainment. As in no way can it be seen as a paranormal investigation!

Duality - Great Track - you will find some of the words below - Sorry about that !! I will let you get on with it but couldnt resist.

She tiptoes in silence around my bed - And quiets the raindrops overhead - With her everlasting smile - She stills my fever for a while .............

RE: Evidence Vs Entertainment
I don't see why something can't entertain AND be taken as a serious investigation. I love the show because it takes the best of both worlds- investigations on haunted properties whilst also being amusing at times to watch. It makes me jump AND smile- I love whatever ingredient makes this show.

Quote:Ofcom ruled that Most Haunted was an entertainment show, not a legitimate investigation into the paranormal, and should not be taken seriously.
Spin-off show Most Haunted Live was also investigated, following the complaints.

Ofcom ruled that the TV show contains "a high degree of showmanship that puts it beyond what we believe to be a generally accepted understanding of what comprises a legitimate investigation".

"On balance, we consider that overall Most Haunted/Most Haunted Live should be taken to be a programme produced for entertainment purposes.

RE: Evidence Vs Entertainment
Great quotes DLZ, i never realised Ofcom had looked into the show.
It kind of reminds me of how wrestling was when i was younger and more niave and thought that it was a sport, now they are nicer to the kids and call it sports entertainment. The moves are faked but the entertainment is still there. maybe MH has done the same for the paranormal and created a new genre Paranormal entertainment???

RE: Evidence Vs Entertainment
I don't think Yvette needs to say much to be honest. The thing speaks for itself. No serious paranormal team investigates by the camera being mostly up the nose. Its just NOT realistic.

Now, i ain't saying they go about throwing things etc or they have NEVER caught any good activity as such, but think of how much better it would be if they filmed the show better in an investigation point.

The MH team have been in some of the biggest purported paranormal places in the world, if they investigated a bit better, they could catch many more things.

But for them, it is just a show and an entertainment show at that.

RE: Evidence Vs Entertainment
To be honest Keith I do not feel the Most Haunted team have the expertise to investigated a bit better, they could catch many more things.

As you have said many times Most haunted is entertainment and the so called team are entertainers not Paranormal investigators. In fact we cannot call at leat two thirds of the team as entertainers, Kath, Karl and Stu just to name three.
