Hi

I've just been reading an interview given by Yvette on the Sky TV website.

In it there is a discussion about fake mediums. I quote....

"Psychics who get possessed are absolute rubbish. They are charlatans, it’s laughable really. Any medium that gets possessed needs to sort it out. Go back to your acting classes love."

Is Yvette saying, therefore, that Derek Acorah is a fake psychic and that all the MH shows he was on, he was faking his possessions? Icon_neutral

I would like to know, please.

I think Derek Acorah was "asked to leave" the show as the team caught him out as a fake.
They came up with a trick to see if they could catch him out lying, and it apparantly worked. Derek then left the show, leaving most people believing he had been caught out lying and now I think Yvette and Karl are very sceptical about posessions.

Basically - if you want more detail - Ciaran O Keefe came up with a name (he made it up, it was entirely fictional) and mentioned it in front of Derek as a name of a supposed ghost. In the show that day, Derek used this name...he said he had contacted this fictional spirit (Derek didn't know, obviously, that the name and ghost had been created deliberately to trick him).....Then the team knew that Derek made thing's up.

It's a shame really, as people have a hard time as it is taking the show seriously without people like Derek doing things like that.

It was actually two names Derek got caught out with: ''Kreed Kaifer'' (the South African gaoler) and ''Rik Eidles'' (the highwayman). These are anagrams for ''Derek Faker'' and ''Derek Lies'', respectively. Both fictional people created by Ciaran O'Keefe. I remember reading also that Yvette was getting concerned for the safety of herself and the crew, as the ''possessions'' were becoming more and more violent. That was enough to seal Derek's fate.

The Kreed Kaifer possession can be seen in the episode where the team visit ''Bodmin Gaol''. And Rik Eidles was said to be trying to contact the team at ''Prideaux Place''.

I find it hard to believe that Derek is a fake. Maybe he did fake the possessions to make for more exciting television, but after having had a psychometry reading by Derek at the recording of his latest series (Derek Acorah Show, Sky Real Lives, Series 2, episode 1), the told me things that no one else knew except me, not even the friend I was with. And what he told me was so obscure (glasses being kept with slippers) that no one could have plucked that out of the air. And other things he said (some not shown on programme) was just so my Mum that he convinced me.

Whilst I believe that Derek didn't necessarily fake everything (I believe a lot of his posession's were just drama for the show) I think it was right that he left the show.

Medium's/psychic's etc get a hard time because so many people don't trust them. With people who can claim they can contact the dead, trust is EVERYTHING, so if you lie even about even one thing,you're putting your whole career on the line (as a medium.)

My personal OPINION of Derek is similar to Fiona's. I believe Derek does have some ability as a psychic (clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience), BUT, I don't feel - having watched him from his first day on MH to his last, every live show he has been a part of, and a few of his own DVDs - that he is a spiritual medium. I feel that Derek has always purported to be able to do a lot more than what he is capable of doing, and that caused his downfall. From the perspective of his entertainment value, he was a very talented man and was a gifted showman. I feel he brought a lot of drama to the show and made it exciting to watch. He's obviously quite a charismatic man. But from the perspective of someone always looking for spiritual truth, I find it frustrating.

what about when the crew get possessed then are they fakes too ?? on several i can think of crew members have been possessed including yvette? like to hear the explanation on that one lol :) there seems to be alot of negative talk about mediums being fake from mh crew so why do they hire them and take them if they dont believe ?? ;O( xx
