agree with you 100% Spookysue, plus I tend to wonder if he knew about some of the 'goings on' and didn't want to be any part of it.

Gordon Smith left because he was asked to 'embelish' some information, and he also wasn't happy about the show being scripted.

This, i think, is nearer the truth behind poor old Davids departure.I think he was under a lot of pressure to perform, and find ghosts where perhaps there were none.He might of found himself being forced down the same road as Derek did, having to find a way of researching the hauntings in advance just to please Yvette's expectations.This would have tarnished his career badly,as it did Dereks, and he is just to honest a character for that kind of malarky.

I think it definitely set in at that point. He appeared to get quite angry when he realised he'd been sent away so it could be used without his knowledge. He questioned live on air the fact that "since when has Lesley been qualified in the occult?" He also got extremely distressed when Karl and Stuart lay down in that room and repeated the 'curse chant' three times, after he'd specifically asked them not to do so.

He got VERY angry with both Karl and Stuart during the Penitentiary live episode too, when they refused his protection and got hurt.

The worst thing they ever did on MH (in my opinion) was to lose David Wells. He made the show, he was credible, accurate and extremely believeable.
I miss his presence on the show very much.
