I'm fairly new to Most Haunted and have just finished watching the lives and the entire series DVDs up to Series 12. I just wondered what other people's views were on the crew :-

Yvette : Makes a great job (particularly during the lives) of holding everything together. It can't be easy. It's clear, in my opinion, that everyone is really scared of her though I just wish she wouldnt react so loudly to any noise that is heard. For instance, we hear a deep sigh, which is immediately followed by Yvette bellowing.....

Karl : Its very interesting watching the MH dvds from the start as its clear to see that his ego and arrogance gets more obvious every year.

Stuart : See the above. Stuart's mouth is also absolutely foul, and although Im no prude, I'd love to hear less bleeping out of swear words.

Jon Dibley : Annoying. No idea why I feel that about him.... could be the fact he can't string two words together without saying "errrrrrrrrr" every other word....

Jon Gilbert the soundman : Seems a very sweet guy. Anyone know why he left?

Kath : Screams too much, and has got more and more ratty with Stuart as time goes on

Lesley : Seems a very pleasant woman, but so affected when she speaks its embarrassing. Needs to stay in the studio doing the great job she does as a historian, rather than being out in the field. Her screaming is beyond annoying.

Ciaran : Great at his job, seems pleasant enough but devoid of any facial expression....

David Wells : MH biggest mistake EVER in letting this man go. It was clear Stuart and Karl's arrogance was a big factor in his leaving. Some of the last scenes David filmed, he could barely conceal his irritation at their antics.

Brian Shepherd : How the hell did he get the job on MH. WORST medium ever.

I can't remember which show it was, and it's driving me mad.....

It's one of the Most Haunted Live shows.... where the team are going down a staircase to a basement/cellar, and suddenly Jon the soundman hears a growling voice telling him to "GET OUT!" And then Jon freaks, and tries to refuse to go down any further... I want to buy this episode on DVD but can't remember which one it was....
Can anyone help?

All you can hear is the dog whining and panting loudly. We have Yvette saying, "two taps, didja hear that???" Errr no because you've got a large dog galumphing around in the background, whimpering and barking everytime the table moves or raps.

Hey all,

I dunno if anyone knows, but Ive been studying network security for a while now and one of the topics that came up was social engineering.

Social engineering is the technique of befriending someone, getting to know all their personal details and then finding out their passwords (or working it out/resetting it, as a lot of the time people use things like birthdays, names, places and pets for passwords and password reset questions)

Just something i thought id flag up. Im not trying to belittle peeps or point out the obvious, I am just trying to make people more aware of who they talk to/talk about on forums, on facebook, on msn and on emails (I know we are all grown ups here, but lets face it, do we really "know" the person or persons we are communicating with) and with our everyday lives being more and more reliant on a computer, thus increases the chance of people finding out sensitive information, I feel that not everyone wants to make themselves an easy target for these criminals and vagabonds

Do you have a fondness for a certain line, speech, etc from a movie? MY all time favorite is Richard Boone's from the 1960 movie John Wayne's The Alamo. Boone,as General Sam Houston, has just received the last message from the Alamo defenders. After reading it,he turns to his staff and says:

" Yesterday,I read you Colonel Fannin's letter, stating that he cannot reach the Alamo in time. And today,I have THIS from the Alamo-(crumples letter in his hand)-they are surrounded, and we can't help them. Now,tomorrow, when your recruits start to whine and bellyache, you tell them that 185 of their friends, neighbors, fellow Texicans, are holed up in a crumbling adobe mission down on the Rio Bravo, buying them this precious time! (Pauses) I hope they remember. (Pauses) I hope Texas remembers." (Turns and walks away)
That is one of the most dramatic and stirring scenes I have ever watched.

Call me arrogant if you like, but I think that I have shown that the following aspects of the supernatural/paranormal have been debunked (not necessarily by me), beyond reasonable doubt:

Ouija Boards

Here (http://www.mosthauntedforum.com/thread-d...ija-board) I pretty much took apart the phenomenon of Ouija Boards on my own, with a little help from some time-honoured techniques; nobody has come forward with any evidence to support them beyond alleged personal experience and hearsay.

Pendulums

I think this thread speaks for itself (http://www.mosthauntedforum.com/thread-p...-nervous).

Mediums

Let’s be honest; as pointed out in this thread (http://www.mosthauntedforum.com/thread-w...-mediums), mediums are generally either self-deluded or charlatans whose powers run to no more than cold-reading, best guessing, watching ‘tells’ of their subjects, setting up huge targets to hit (“I’m getting someone beginning with ‘P’…”), and acting – combine this with an often willingness on the part of the subject to be ‘fooled’, or to make the reading fit their own personal circumstances no matter how loosely.

The Afterlife

I can’t say that the door is completely closed on this one, but when you read this thread (http://www.mosthauntedforum.com/thread-q...s-spirits) and look at the balance of probability; it doesn’t look good for the traditional view of the afterlife.

So what do you think?

I have decided to make a poll for people to quickly express their views on this, but there is no reason people cannot reply in the normal manner either. All I would ask is that if you wish to debate one of the subjects above, announce your intent here, then post in the relevant thread linked above.

We had workmen in today from a well known company to rip the kitchen out, we told them we had 4 cats and one of them said throw them out side to be eaten by dogs... i didn't know he had said it until my mum said earlier. It wasn't a nice thing to say especially when we have had a cat mauled by a dog in the garden some years ago. Good job i didn't hear it as i may have snapped because i hadn't had much sleep.

They then complained about seeing fleas in the house and that they won't do anymore work until it's sorted. "Apparenty it has something to do with health and saftey" Anyway having 4 cats we are not going to get rid of every single flea, besides i've not seen any so they must have been unlucky. The cats are done every 3 months with frontline.

Why it's Unlikely That There Are Any Genuine Mediums...

Let me present to you a fictitious Medium; we’ll kall him Kreed Kafer – nothing directly to do with Derek Acorah, it’s just a snappy name which fits the subject I am going to discuss. I am going to endow our friend Kreed with various personality traits and stir in a good dollop of general human nature. I’m also going to put these variations of Kreed up against this:

http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/1m-challenge.html

For those too lazy to click:

Quote:At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."
To date, no one has passed the preliminary tests.

Now, as I have said elsewhere, the JREF challenge is not the ‘be-all-and-end-all’ – but it’s not far off; this is where the human nature element comes in. If I claimed to be able to juggle 5 running chainsaws simultaneously, and somebody was offering $1M for me to prove it in person, and I KNEW I could do it, why wouldn’t I?

But let’s run our hypothetical incarnations of Kreed Kafer through the challenge – in all cases, Kreed is a relatively renowned Medium with several TV appearances under his belt:

Kreed Kafer the Out-and-Out Faker

Kreed is an extremely klever kon-man, perhaps even klever (I’ll stop now) enough to fool the JREF challenge. He knows he has no powers whatsoever, but If he gives it a go, he’s at LEAST $1M better off – not even counting the TV appearances, exposure and wealth that would follow being a scientifically-approved medium; if he fails, he can use his smooth skills to convince the faithful that the test was biased, they’ll still continue to give him their money – he hasn’t really lost.

Why wouldn’t he take the test?

Kreed Kafer the Crusader

Kreed knows he has powers; he uses them to help people, and he’s demonstrated his power time and time again – he takes no money from individuals for his efforts – he has a comfortable wage from TV appearances. He’s here to help; not fleece people – so why would he want to take the test; he’s not about money?

Kreed might not be about money, but charities are; if Kreed absolutely believes his powers are genuine and infallible doesn’t he almost have a moral obligation to take the test? Think of what the NSPCC could do with $1M, or Cancer Research? Surely it’s no skin off Kreed’s nose to take the test?

Kreed Kafer the Businessman

Kreed has powers and he’s a genuine businessman; he’s been given a gift - why shouldn’t he make money from it? We can’t begrudge him a living can we? He has demonstrated his gift time and time again and made money from it. Why wouldn’t he take the test?

As a businessman, is Kreed really going to turn down an easy $1m, and the certainty of improving his overall earning massively once he completes the test?

Kreed Kafer the Spiritualist

This Kreed is a cousin of Kreed the Faker, but he’s just self-deluded not malicious.

Kreed claims to have power and has almost convinced himself he has (but deep down, he really knows he hasn’t); he’s a higher being who has demonstrated his power on many occasions. He thinks science and the ‘other side’ are incompatible; Kreed says that science is too full of itself and couldn’t possibly understand the supernatural, which is why he won’t take the test; in front of his devoted fans, Kreed often sneers at ‘science’.

If Kreed holds science in such low regard, why not prove it wrong by taking the test? Is Kreed really not interested in the £1m either? Doubtful, given human nature. Or is Kreed just dismissing the test which he knows he couldn’t pass, and is afraid of doing.

The test is out there and it is genuine. Let’s be honest – what possible reason would all those who purport to be ‘mediums’ have to not attempt the test?
