You are Lord Lucan & I claim my £5 !!!! - Thebogeyman - 02-18-2012 06:15 PM

There was a Sunday paper article in Scotland which featured a travelogue reporter called the "HON Man" who would travel around Scotland and if you identified him correctly you could claim the above sum from the paper.

No doubt some innocent poor souls were apprehended and cornered by people who suspected they were this individual.

Reminds me of the regular Lucan sightings over the years which have been a feature since the events of 1974 and there has been speculation that he is still alive and avoiding the authorities.

"Lucan For You" has raised its head again and it would appear that his Lordship may be in Africa.

Think the most enduring image was the individual in Goa who was identified as Lord Lucan and was actually a hippy from Merseyside who moved there years ago because it was so cheap and so spiritual. Very much doubt an Old Etonian would be reduced to living in a hut wearing a sarong but there you go.

So ... is he still alive and was he slipped out of the country as claimed ?

Well he had the connections and the financial backing to enable this however there should be a paper trail regards the movement of finances to track his movements as was the case with the ex Labour MP John Stonehouse which occurred at the same time. Also he apparently left with no passport so lessening his chances of escape overseas and ferry passengers could all be accounted for

Even after all this time I would suspect that there surely comes a time when there will be the " desire to walk into an English bar and order a pint " as with Ronnie Biggs in recent years.

Leave with this wee snippet on an enduring mystery

Gets about a bit, doesn't he? Icon_rolleyes

I've only heard about this before now because of a Crimean War project (there was a Lord Lucan then as well, but via common sense, I knew that this man could not possibly have told Cardigan to lead the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854. Icon_smile )
